The day began with breakfast at 8:00 a.m. then their Academic Test at 9:00 a.m.
which is worth 20% of the overall score.  The exam, developed by our Academic
Judges, consists of at least one long answer essay question as well as multiple
choice questions drawn from high school curriculum and current affairs.

Next, they had a seminar on Career Development facilitated by Denise and Cherry from Memorial University.
Throughout the day, they each
had their Interview with the
judges, which is worth 45% of
their overall score.

Both Miss Teen NL and her first
runner-up will be representing our
province at the next
Miss Teen Canada-World pageant
in Toronto this June.

The Talent Competition began at 7:00 p.m. at the Comfort Inn.  Participation in this competition is optional and
the scores are not added to a contestant’s final mark.  Each entry is judged in the categories of
entertainment value, degree of difficulty, originality, stage presence and overall presentation.

Christa Borden (Miss Teen NL 1998 and winner of
Pop Stars)

Following the Talent Competition, everyone relaxed and enjoyed a
Pajama Pizza Party, sponsored by Stoggers' Pizza, hosted by
Laura Woodworth, Miss Teen Newfoundland & Labrador.  Both Laura and
Sheena Winsor (Miss Newfoundland & Labrador) facilitated a self-esteem
workshop for the contestants.
