Miss Canada Scholarship 2006
September 18, 2006

Hi Everyone,

I have recently just finished my first appearance as Miss Canada Scholarship, going from a study worm to a
titleholder again was an adjustment but I loved every minute of it.  Most of my appearances have been based in
Nova Scotia due to the fact I am in clinical during Thursday and Friday with assignments due on Monday thus I
hope to return home soon until then I am giving Sabrina double duty (lol).

My first appearance was in Antigonish, Nova Scotia where I participated in the Terry Fox run hosted by Trina
Cameron of Antigonish.  This event had hundreds of people and volunteers who worked hard to organize an event
based around honouring and remembering those who have lost their lives to cancer.  This event allowed me to get
acquainted with the community, shed some cheer and present an award to Dr. Nichols who was an active member
of the Terry Fox run for 25 years.

My next event was in Port Hawkesbury, NS where I also had the privilege of taking part in the Terry Fox run.
This event was an hour away from the previous event and it allowed me to visit communities along the way.

The following day I was in a charitable golf tournament, a sport I cannot play but do not worry I did not put my
name to shame, I cheered.  This was a great event and a whole lot of fun.  It was also for a good cause where
money goes to local charities and I spoke of course on my platform - school bullying.  From this event I had
hundreds of emails from people to government officials who want to help thus I will be making appearances along
New Brunswick and PEI in the upcoming weeks.

Lastly, I will, at the end of the month, be an active, up close and personal member of the homecoming event in
Nova Scotia.  This is one of the biggest events that X (the University) host and from this I will be singing and
shedding light on my platform.

Through all this I have not forgotten my homeland, and I promise to be there soon.  As busy as this title is, I am
happy to be carrying the pride of all of you with me.  I thought I give you a little insight of my weekend, now it is
back to my other life of school.
                                                                                      With all my luv,

Hey Everyone,

Just wanted to write and let all of you know what I have been up to lately.   Since my reign I have been busy
visiting local hospitals and nursing homes in Nova Scotia.  Thus far I have touched on places in Antigonish, Port
Hawkesbury and New Glasgow, which are all within two hour driving distances from my school, which is great.  I
hope to do more travelling once my clinicals are finished in October.  I believe in visiting places such as hospitals
and nursing homes because working on becoming a future health care provider and physician I believe many
individuals are quite pleasant to the idea of titleholders and are all too often forgotten because they cannot make it
into the communities to see us on our appearances thus this is a way for them to be involved.

This Saturday I attended an event in Westville, a folk’s festival that involved a local pageant, games, food
eating contest and enjoyable music.  It was great too meet the people in this tight, knit community and promote my
platform "School Bullying Prevention."  The event reminded me a lot of Gambo when I was Miss Teen NL 02
because the people treated you as if you were a celebrity with the red carpet and all.  I enjoyed this event and even
though the rain appeared it did not stop the people of this community from having a good time with local spirit.

Next week I will be singing “O Canadaâ€ at the homecoming game at St. FX University.  This is one of the
biggest events in Nova Scotia where the past graduates from St. FX come back with their X rings on and celebrate
by a homecoming football game.  This event will be televised on Eastlink and once again leading to great promotion
of my platform.  Through this event I will meet with federal dignitaries and discuss my future plans with HANDS,
Helping Adolescents Negotiate Defensive Systems around School Bullying.

That’s all for now and I will keep in touch with the events to come.
                                                                                      Keep on Smiling,

Hello again!

This weekend, September 30, 2006 I sang at the Homecoming game at St. Francis Xavier University.  This event
had over 5000 people in attendance along with thousands more watching from the television screens on Eastlink
television in Nova Scotia.  It was great too see years of tradition and history present at this event where we
welcomed those who graduated from St. FX so many years ago along with the present students today.  Alumni,
staff and faculty members along with political leaders were present at the event where we all celebrated through a
football game against St. FX and Acadia along with a social after the game.  The weather was absolutely perfect, a
real sky pleaser which allowed us all to enjoy the day and allow myself to speak to individuals about my platform
"HANDS" on school bullying prevention.  I hope to hear from the Minster of Health and the Minister of Education
within the next few weeks, which will allow me to tour schools throughout Atlantic Canada.  Also, this event
allowed me time to tell the story of the extraordinary experience of Miss Canada scholarship and my dreams and
goals for this year.  MacLean’s magazine was present and I did a interview with them which also focused
around my platform but also my singing, it was quite amusing when they asked me questions about football
because I really did not understand the game.

I wish however, I could have been at the Miss Newfoundland and Labrador pageant and a big congrats to the
winner.  I hope to travel with you throughout the year and embark on what our province has to offer.
                                                                                      With all my luv,

Hey everyone ,

Sorry it has been so long since I have written but I am now in the process of writing my nursing midterms and
finishing my clinical.  Last weekend I attended the
Walk for Wishes for the Children’s Wish Foundation in the
Halifax region of Nova Scotia.  That event was spectacular; the IWK here in Nova Scotia is a great hospital for
Sick Children.  I could not feel better to be part of such a great cause and meet the wonderful children who are
strong advocates to keep on striving and survive the many illnesses they face.  This week I am promoting my
platform at local schools here in the Strait area of Nova Scotia and after next week, with my midterms complete, I
will be doing the Halloween Spectacular in Glendale, Nova Scotia.  Life has been busy, but certainly amazing as I
am loving this year and hoping to soon spend some time with all of you.  During the month of November I am
hoping to travel to Ontario and maybe even Quebec promoting my platform, but I will certainly be in St. John's,
November 26th for the Christmas Parade and hopefully visiting schools on “HANDS.

Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take but by the moments that take your breath away!!!
November 13, 2006

Hey Everyone!!!

I am returning to school today from an 8-day trip in Ontario and Quebec.  I arrived in Toronto, Ontario on
November 4th and had a late night chat with one of my favourite people in the world, Christopher Fry. On the 5th,
Sabrina flew in and we started the day off with a bang, with the help of Miss Preteen Canada Scholarship, Madison
Lindstrom, Bryanna and Brian, we left Toronto and visited Buffalo, across the state of New York, Pennsylvania
and then back to Niagara Falls to view the lighting of the falls and the array of Christmas decorations.   It was really
nice to visit Buffalo, after the tremendous snowstorm only weeks prior and witness the calmness after the storm.  If
you review the pictures you will see Sabrina, Madison and myself on one of the broken trees in Buffalo.

On the 6th, we got up bright and early and travelled the Subway to the mall.  Sabrina and Chris tried to make me
street smart but I do not believe the effort worked as I was quite naïve about the experience and quite trusting.  I
got fashion tips from the two of them, tried on plenty of clothes and enjoyed a day of relaxation with the greatest
two people you will ever meet.  We ended the night with Chris and Karen heading to a Toronto Maple Leafs game,
while Sabrina, myself and a newfound friend, Brian headed to the CN tower for a walk down history lane while
getting the true sightings and beauty of Toronto.

The 7th was a sad day because we had to drop off Chris at the airport but then shortly after we put on our fan
based Toronto Maple Leaf hats and watched the Toronto Maple Leafs practice, not a normal or typical day for
me.  I was so excited to watch them (and run after pucks when they were shot over the glass).  I learned a new
appreciation for the word “boys as Sabrina pointed out numerous times to the guys on the team and at the
end we were lucky enough to walk away with a picture of Alexi Ponikarovsky (quite attractive I must add) and a
new friend named Rick, who was generous enough to invite us to watch the practice.  I am sure this is an event or
appearance that will forever go down in the memory books for me!

On the 8th, we got dressed up and had a great place to go!  Now imagine, three girls taking over a man’s only
bathroom, not a pretty sight, however, we went to MuchMusic’s Speakers Corner to wish everyone a Happy
Holiday and gave a special message to everyone in Newfoundland and Labrador, so do not forget to tune in. After
that Sabrina was craving the Golden Arches, thus we had a quick snack at McDonald’s and then went to the
Fall into Fashion event.  This event was great, hosted by Telus it worked along side Horizon’s for Youth, which
is an organization that helps over 10,000 people each year ages 18-24 that are living on the streets on Toronto.
They allow individuals the opportunity to have job placements, appropriate food, and a place to sleep along with
emotional and spiritual support.  This event allowed me to place the word “homelessnessâ€ out from under the
mat and bring it to the surface where it needs to be addressed.  This event showed and displayed the talent that
individuals have in the fashion industry, normal, everyday people showing that dreams are a reality and with that
believing can make any dream come true.  Their passion was displayed by the models who wore their clothes, a red
carpet, an array of singers and dancers and a little miracle that allowed this event to raise over $10,000 and I am
sure much more after the night was over.

On the 9th, we left for Ottawa, the nation’s capital where we visited Rideau Hall (the home of Canada’s
Governor General); I learned so much at this tour along with Sabrina (Miss Teen NL & Miss Teen Canada
Scholarship), Madison Lindstrom (Miss Preteen Calgary & Miss Preteen Canada Scholarship), Isabelle Fry,
Bryanna Lindstrom and myself.  Our tour guide was a man named Scott who allowed us to look back over years of
history to the paintings on the wall, the carpet on the floor, the master pieces of the past Governor Generals and the
most recent.  This tour took the baseline knowledge that I have ingested and brought it to life and I must say it was
wonderful to go into the Ball Room and see the display of men and women who have given their lives for our safety
and prosperity while in Afghanistan and to have them remembered on a magnificent display.  We were also invited
to sign a book and although no words could describe our gratitude, it was nice to signify through words a thank you
for what they have done.  Once the tour was complete, we took some pictures in front of the Prime Minister’s
house and went back to Isabelle’s brother’s house where we laughed the night away . . . so funny I ended
up sleeping on the floor!

On the 11th, was a day that will forever be placed in my mind as a true highlight and testament of my title.
Remembrance Day in Ottawa is something I suggest everyone should try to get the chance to do in their lifetime.
The most important thing was remembering the lives of brave soldiers who fought for us to be able to have the
chance to remember.  Sabrina was able to lay a wreath in honour of Newfoundlanders and Labradoreans and I
honestly believe that was one of my proudest moments, because as a past title holder of Miss Teen Newfoundland
& Labrador, I was really happy to see her have that honour to place a wreath for all of us.  Although a cold and
rainy day in Ottawa, for some reason my heart felt warmer when I witnessed that event.  Later in the evening, we
went out as a huge family to have a nice meal and reminisce about our adventures thus far and of course, get a few
laughs and jokes from Bill (Isabelle’s brother) and his girlfriend Roxane, both natives of Newfoundland and
Labrador.

On the 12th, we toured Parliament; we learned insight into political life and the hard work that goes along with being
a political leader or a Member of Parliament.  The tour allowed all of us to see the array of architecture that goes
along with every molding, walk way, stone, pictures etc, it is amazing to know this large master piece was done by
man, giving me true appreciation of our history and how lucky we are to have an amazing structure in Canada.  We
then left for Montreal and viewed the Cathedral de Notre Dame, took a walk down St. Francis Xavier Avenue and
looked at the structures and buildings and the true beauty of the French culture.  We then laid our heads at the
Marriott Residence Inn in Montreal to wake up to the end of our 8-day trip.

During the last eight days I learned a lot about the benefits of having great friends and especially forming a family
with everyone.  I have to thank Isabelle for arranging all of this for us; Brian for allowing us to stay at his home in
Toronto (and being patient with a tornado of clothes, shoes and makeup around his living room); Bryanna for
arranging the hotel in Montreal and driving us around Ontario, Quebec and U.S.A; Madison Lindstrom for never
leaving a dull moment; Chris Fry for just being himself and giving me two days of fun and laughter and of course
learning to ride the Subway; Bill Fry for allowing us to stay at his home in Ottawa; Sabrina for letting me wear her P.
J’s, shoes and basically every item of clothing you could think of and being a great room mate and friend; Hon.
Loyola Hearn, Hon. Greg Thompson and MP Scott Simms; Patrick, our shuttle driver; Scott and Erin, our tour
guides; and every individual who made this event happen.  I had a great time and truly would love to have the
opportunity to do this again, our country is absolutely breath taking with warm, kind and friendly individuals and
there is so much to see and do, I hope you all will have the opportunity to experience the same feeling as I did this
weekend.

Hey Everyone!!!

I just wanted to write, and let you know what I have been doing since my return from Ontario and Quebec.  This
weekend, on November 19th I sang the National Anthem for the Halifax Mooseheads game in which they played
against the St. John’s Fog Devils.  I was so excited to sing in the Metro Centre, against a sold out crowd of
over 8,000 people.  I got pictures with members of the team and of course the mascot Mr. Moose, keep posing for
pictures.  The exciting part was when the St. John’s Fog Devils won in overtime; I guess it was great night for
the Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.  I was quite impressed with the hospitality from the event, having major
celebrities sing the National Anthem and then myself, I felt quite honoured and even more so when I received a
standing ovation and asked to sing again during the play offs in March.

Life is going great, and this title has opened me up to areas of Atlantic Canada that I would normally never get to
discover along with the rest of the nation.  I am excited to return home on the 16th of December and wish I were
attending the Downtown Christmas parade in St. John’s this upcoming weekend but unfortunately, due the date
being so close to exam time at university and my upcoming X-ring ceremony, I am unable to attend.  I know you
guys will certainly witness the remarkable representation of this year’s Miss Teen NL (Miss Teen Canada
Scholarship 2006).

I wish everyone a safe and happy holiday and I am sure I will be back soon to give you updates on the events I
have coming up in December in Nova Scotia & New Brunswick and of course my home province of
Newfoundland and Labrador.

“Our greatest glory consists not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall
January 11, 2007

Hi Everyone ,

Sorry it has taken me so long to write, I have been quite busy with school, Christmas exams and appearances.  I
hope everyone’s Christmas was amazing as mine certainly was.  Spending time with friends and family after
four months of being away was certainly a blessing.  I actually drove home to Labrador, thus I visited two nursing
homes in New Brunswick and Quebec and spoke at three schools.  I visited Moncton, Miramichi, Campbelton,
Richiboutou and Baie Comeau. It was a great way of visiting places in part of Atlantic Canada that I would not
normally get to visit if I flew home.

Once I arrived in Labrador I visited the French school, J.R.S and Menihek High.  I did speak officially on my
platform of School Bullying, but did address the issue with students and passed out pamphlets on School Bullying
forum and "Challenge Day" which you may have seen on Oprah Winfrey in Christmas.  This is a wonderful
program for students in the United States which myself and another Anti Bullying organization in Nova Scotia is
trying to bring here in
Canada.  You can go online and purchase a DVD or donate money and get a free DVD and then bring it to your
own school and become part of a worldwide council in supporting today's youth.  If you need more info please
write to the forum and I would be happy to help.

Then on Christmas Eve I helped with the lighting contest and on December 31st I brought in the New Year at the
Legion in Labrador City where there were over 200 people out to celebrate.

On January 1st I brought back the night, which is part of the women's society and then, for the last four days of my
trip, I took advantage of making appearances around Labrador and Fermont, Quebec but unfortunately I did not
make the Coast but I will before this reign is out.

It was a great Christmas back in my home town and this weekend I am booked to speak at two schools in Cape
Breton and I will let you know how it all turns out.

The most important part of this reign is that I finally get to speak on an issue that affects everyone and it is amazing
how many emails I have received on how people want to change or help.  Each one of you has the potential to do
the same, so my motto for this week is smile at someone you usually would not smile at, or say hi to someone, you
never know the difference you make in one's life.

Take Care

February 8, 2007

Hello Everyone,

Sorry it has taken me so long to write, I have been quite busy the last few weeks doing a school tour across Cape
Breton and Nova Scotia.  Next week I will be speaking to 15 schools with the Atlantic Liaison Officer for Schools
in the Atlantic Area.  I met him during a photo shoot in Louisdale, Nova Scotia two weeks ago; it was amazing that
his job is to promote school bullying prevention in the schools and here my platform was based on the same
principles.  My photo shoot was for a woman who opened a bridal boutique and she wanted pictures of her
dresses and decorations; thus, she contacted me and of course I could not refuse a day modeling wedding dresses.

This month is also Black History Month; yesterday I met the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia, the first African
American women to hold this position in Nova Scotia.  Her presentation was at the Keating Millennium Center in
Nova Scotia where she spoke of continuing education and empowerment.  She spoke of freedom and the three
symbols that encompass freedom such as physical, spiritual and material.  I learned from her presentation that
believing is truly seeing the possibilities that we can develop in our lives.  A woman who grew up poor and felt
powerless in a society that at one time believed black people were less then human; Lieutenant Governor Mayann
E. Francis, fought the boundaries she faced and rose to become the women she is today.  I learned a lot from her
presentation, one thing I most proudly take away is that we all have the power we wish to see in ourselves and
whether that leads you to university, college or independent learning, knowledge is the key to ending any type of
prejudice or discrimination that may exist in our society.

On February 1st, I learned more about the Black History month through the Coady Institute, where individuals from
3rd World Countries come from abroad to gain education; thus, offering their insight when they return to their
country.  It was the last week of January when I was offered the opportunity to travel with my title to Kenya, Africa
for two weeks of the summer.  A way not to promote my platform on school bullying prevention but a way for me
to gain more medical knowledge in my pursuit for a medical career.  My title abled me to be recognized for this
leadership opportunity, which I have not selected, yet, however, I know it is in Kenya where they need leaders and
providers.  They have one of the lowest factors of medical care and education and they need future practitioners to
travel to these places and place their clinical skills to help in order to benefit the people of this area.  To increase the
standards of living and promote health and wellness, something that we may take for granted living here in Canada.
I encourage anyone who wants to travel, gain medical experience, has plans of becoming a nurse or doctor, to seek
advice on how to travel abroad and give back knowledge and skill.  My mom is taking me during May 1st to 6th
across the Eastern Caribbean for a get away trip and during that time we are contacting agencies where we can
donate medical supplies, clothes and blankets; thus, allowing others to benefit from our rewards.

On February 9th, I will be speaking at Whitely Pier Memorial in Cape
Breton finishing my last school tour and then next week from February 14th to 16th I will be speaking at the
following schools in order to bring my platform to the next step.
• Burton Ettinger School, East Hants
• Duc d'Anville Elementary School (pr to 6), Darmouth
• Fairview Heights School (pr to 6), Fairview
• Wentworth Park Elementary School (pr to 6), Wentworth
• Rockingham Elementary School
• Park West School (pr to 9), Elmdale
• Halifax Elementary school (7 to 9), Halifax
• Fairview Junior High School (7 to 9), Fairview
• Halifax West High School (10 to 12), Halifax
• Harrison Trimble High School, Moncton (9-12)
• Bernice MacNaughton High School, Moncton (9-12)
• Evergreen Park School, Moncton (K-8)
• Hillcrest School, Moncton (K-8)

Then, I will be in Newfoundland on February 22nd to 26th for the Miss Teen Newfoundland and Labrador
pageant.  I am excited to meet all the contestants and speak at the selected schools in St. John’s and Torbay
once I arrive.  Then I will be off to Labrador with my mom, to spend my spring break speaking at J.R.S, Menihek
High School, A.P. Low in Wabush/Labrador City and Eric G. Lambert in Churchill Falls. This month will be quite
rewarding with promoting my platform “School Bullying Prevention, HANDS.â€  I have been blessed to meet
amazing people over the past six months, people who have made this year a possibility in promoting my platform.
Bringing me back to my motto, you can honestly do anything if you have a passion for helping others and truly want
to help others genuinely.  Since my reign I have been working with schools in adopting a new school police, please
visit the Challenge Day website to see what you can do at your school and contact the forum if you want to get
involved.

The last week of March the beginning of April I am speaking in Bolton,
Ontario.  I was suppose to do this back in November but my schedule did not match thus I will be travelling there
with my dad to speak at the local schools along with two in Toronto and Brampton, ON.  Then in June I will be
doing a placement at the Stollery’s children’s hospital in Edmonton, Alberta and my cousin is organizing an
event where I can speak in Calgary, Edmonton and Lloydminister before the end of the school year.  Lloydminister
is on the boarder of Saskatchewan I am trying to contact the school board to arrange a school meeting in
Saskatchewan as well.  During the Miss Canada pageant the 3rd runner up was from Manitoba and she is also
trying to arrange me to speak in Winnipeg, thus, thanks to so many people trying to make this year remarkable for
me and schools learning from others that school bullying policies can really change lives, this platform has been a
passion that has worked.

Also, the Relay for Life is being hosted in many places across Canada,
I am hosting one this year at St. FX, this will be the 3rd annual event.  If there is one in your area I encourage all of
you to get involved, this is a great way to honour and remember those who have lost their lives to cancer or are still
fighting to overcome this illness.

Hello Everyone,

It certainly as been a while since I last wrote but this is honestly the first time I got a chance to sit down and write
since being in Newfoundland and Labrador for a school tour and the Miss Teen Newfoundland & Labrador
pageant.  I certainly loved speaking at the schools in Torbay and St. John's and it went by so fast.  A cute boy
asked me to sing O' Canada during the question session at the end of my bullying prevention presentation.  In all
the schools I have traveled this year and after doing over 200 presentations thus far, I have never been asked that!
I have done a total of 14 presentations while in the St. John's area and then I spent the weekend with close friends
and the pageant family at the Miss Teen NL pageant.  I got to know people I have briefly known for a short time
and meet wonderful people.  I also had the opportunity to judge the talent competition and speak at the final night
when the past reigning Miss Teen NL Sabrina Fitzpatrick crowned her successor Danielle Seward.  Then I left for
Labrador and spoke at Menihek and J.R.S schools, and visited A.P Low Primary.  That was quite an adventure - I
spoke every hour between 8:30 and 3:00 while in Labrador, I did presentations for three days before leaving for
Nova Scotia.  I never got to see much of my family but I certainly loved having the opportunity to speak to schools
that impacted my life and give back to my two home bound communities; Wabush and Labrador City.  I did a total
of 19 presentations from grades 4 to 7 and 8 to 9.  I met all my old student teachers and even had a sweet boy
who dreams to be a future designer, design me the nicest dress I have ever seen.

I am now back in Nova Scotia right now and this weekend I will be taking part in International Women's Week
where I will be in a play.  I cannot wait, one of the plays I will be watching is about mothers and I believe my mom
is truly one of the best.  She traveled to Newfoundland with me to see me speak and be part of one of the best
memories of my life at the Miss Teen NL pageant.  I believe plays should be dedicated to important people in your
life and this one is certainly for my mom.  Yesterday, (March 8) I was in Sackville speaking at Millwood High
school.  I drove two hours to go and speak and do two presentations with grade 10's, Monique Hurley the
Executive Assistant of the Miss Teen NL pageant gave me the opportunity to speak to her class.  I was delighted
and honored and had a really great time.  I spent time with a dear friend who as been an inspiration to me since
meeting her the year I won Miss Teen NL back in 2002.  Genuine and real are words to describe her but that
actually don't give her justice because she is even more then that to everyone she meets.  I was given a beautiful gift
but most of all I gained warm memories to share.  Today is her last day teaching at the school, I wish her luck in
where ever she goes because she will do great with every student she embraces.

Since traveling has been a big part of my life the past six months, I have now completed the Atlantic Provinces
along with Ontario and Quebec.  In May I will travel with Absolute Leadership for the whole month, across the
Western half of the country (NWT, Alberta and Manitoba).  I am booked after this weekend with International
Women's Week to go and speak to three schools in the Southern Shore of Nova Scotia and next week I am off
for the Relay for Life in New Brunswick which is four and half hours from Antigonish.  I am taking it easy for a few
weeks after that in order to prepare for my term papers and my major thesis.  School and a national title are
competing with one another and most days it can be a challenge balancing both, but I truly believe in emotional
intelligence.  I learned this the first day back after spring break in my nursing 493 class and I thought it would be my
major advice for the day; no matter how busy life may be and how many task their needs to be done, the most
important thing is bringing yourself into focus and allowing yourself time to actually give the best of yourself.  Don't
think of life as a task to get through, think of it as a journey that sometimes goes way too fast, so slow down and
enjoy because it can actually be a great ride.  Oh...don't forget to hold on tight.

P.S.  When I spoke on the final night of the pageant my speech must have walked away, unfortunately I wrote it at
the hotel and it is on their system.  If someone finds it that would be great, I copyright all my speeches and use them
for a scrapbook for my nanny in Griquet, NL as she never gets to see or hear me speak. This is the only visual she
gets so if anyone has it or sees it, please send it my way.

Hi Everyone ,

Summer is coming to an end I cannot believe how fast time can go.  I have been in Alberta since June and I have
witnessed the beauty of the Western provinces during the past two months.  I had to travel to British Columbia in
order to see the water because I was getting homesick for my homeland.

For all of you wondering where I have been or what I have been up too; I have one word...BUSY!!!  My
apologies for not writing sooner.

Since my travels with Absolute, I have been able to witness the Calgary Stampede, Klondike Days, Capital X
celebrations and the Taste of Edmonton Festival.  I travelled to Banff, Jasper and Vancouver B.C. and visited the
National museum, China Town and little Italy.  It is a wonderful experience out here and I cannot believe how
many places I have been able to see and people I have had the opportunity to meet.  People were amazed to meet
a titleholder; many in the Western half of the Country did not know pageantry existed in Canada.  Also, many did
not know we had a purpose in carrying a title.  Thus it was so exciting to speak on important issues surrounding
homelessness, which is a major issue here in Alberta and the world at large.

This upcoming weekend I will be doing the Heritage Festival in Sherbrooke Park in Alberta and then I have the
Children's hospital telethon and pizza party at the Stollery in Edmonton, Alberta.  So, watch Global news and you
just might see the wonderful children that I will spend the day with on the 9th of August.

Once again, sorry it as been so long but I will try to keep you updated with my upcoming events.  Have a great
summer and I will be in Newfoundland during the beginning of September to visit the Northern Peninsula where I
will be speaking in honour of my grandfather during the Legion event in St. Anthony.
